ISU 2025 Commencement Celebrates Students Stepping into a New Chapter with Confidence and Expertise

ISU held its grand commencement ceremony on June 7, 2025, bringing together graduates from all colleges to celebrate a major milestone in their academic journey. Surrounded by family, friends, and faculty, students marked the completion of their university life, a meaningful conclusion that also signaled the beginning of a new chapter, whether in their professional careers or further studies. Guided by the educational philosophy of “Learn at ISU, master your profession,” ISU remains dedicated to equipping students with a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills. ISU hopes that every graduate will embark on their next journey with confidence, purpose, and a bright future.

President Guu remarked, “Graduation marks the beginning of a new chapter in life as you step into society. Whether you pursue further studies or enter the workforce, new challenges await. If you ever need support from your professors or the university, the door of ISU is always open. We welcome you to come back and seek advice from your mentors. ISU will always be your greatest source of knowledge.” Mr. Shi-Chang Zhang, President of the ISU Alumni Association, added, “After graduation, your identity shifts from student to alumnus, but your connection to ISU does not end here. The Alumni Association is a platform that allows you to stay engaged with your alma mater and support your juniors. Whether you’re looking for support or opportunities to participate, we warmly invite you to join us and become part of the alumni community, where fellow ISU graduates will continue to walk with you through every stage of life.”

This year’s valedictorian was Trish, an international student from Indonesia, majoring in International Media and Entertainment Management at the International College. During his time at ISU, Trish combined his academic expertise in media and entertainment with his strengths in cross-cultural communication and creativity. He actively participated in many hands-on experiences, including short film production, visual storytelling, curation, and public speaking, showcasing a strong ability to integrate theory with practice. “My time at ISU has been both joyful and fulfilling. As I graduate, I’m filled with gratitude and reluctance to leave. This journey has helped me grow professionally and expand my global perspective through friendships with classmates worldwide. I am truly thankful to my professors for their guidance and my peers for their support and companionship. Graduation marks the end of this university chapter, but the beginning of a new one. May we all hold fast to our dreams and shine brightly on the road ahead,” Trish shared, reflecting on his journey.

As the AI era rapidly unfolds, ISU has taken a pioneering role among Taiwan’s universities, proactively shaping its AI education strategy. As early as 2018, ISU launched its forward-thinking “X+AI” interdisciplinary learning model, integrating AI elements into professional curricula across all fields. This initiative enables every student to grasp and apply AI technologies early on, using AI as a launchpad to take their expertise to new levels, both in depth and scope. In 2020, ISU partnered with NVIDIA to establish Taiwan’s second NVIDIA-powered supercomputer, reinforcing its commitment to cultivating AI talent. ISU has since invested heavily in cutting-edge teaching environments, including the AI Supercomputer Lab equipped with NVIDIA’s latest GPUs, the Semiconductor Advanced Process Virtual and Actual Areas, the Intelligent Design and Manufacturing Center, the Intelligent Medical Education Center, the Metaverse Center for Technology, Arts, and Design, and professional AI computer labs. With NVIDIA-certified instructors on campus, ISU provides expert guidance to faculty members and students, ensuring they stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry developments. ISU’s commitment to AI education has earned recognition for two consecutive years, with Jensen Huang, the so-called “Godfather of AI,” naming the university as one of his official partners, acknowledging ISU’s leadership and accomplishments in the AI domain.

ISU stated that throughout their time on campus, each graduate has grown professionally and gained valuable interpersonal connections and a broader perspective on life. ISU encourages all graduates to confidently step into the future, drawing strength from the solid foundation they have built. With graduation caps soaring high, the 2025 commencement ceremony concluded on a celebratory note. ISU graduates will continue to distinguish themselves through their competence and global perspective, whether in professional fields or on the global stage.
