Future Development

1. To recruit more faculty members with doctorate degrees or high academic achievements;
2. To extend higher-degree programs to more departments;
3. To periodically upgrade laboratory facilities so as to conform to up-to-date technological standards and to facilitate more advanced research activities;
4. To encourage various departments to modify the teaching plan in accordance with current trends and needs;
5. To emphasize the practical aspect of research, gradually reinforcing the integrated participation of industry, government, academy and research; and
6. To identify major research areas such as power generation, automatic control, communication technologies, semiconductor technologies, computer networks, multimedia applications, digital video compression, error-correction code, custom-made information management systems, etc., forming interdisciplinary research groups to expand the vision of one another.
